I have been working in the field of counseling since 2004 and offer confidential service to individuals. I provide a caring, compassionate and respectful environment for you to talk about your problems. I don’t use a prescriptive approach preferring to work with each client individually. During the first couple of sessions I form both an intellectual and intuitive picture of your problem. From which I will make suggestions and work with you to determine the methods and approach that are going to be the most effective in solving your problem.

This may include the following strategies:

* Helping you achieve a particular goal that you have always dreamed of but keep putting off.

* Teaching you assertiveness skills so that you can communicate better with your partner, collagues or boss.

* Helping you to explore and resolve a past trauma that is causing you to feel inadequate at work and therefore you aren't performing as well as you could.

You needn't even be clear about your reasons for starting counseling, many people experience a general sense of unhappiness, anxiety or dissatisfaction and use counseling as a way of finding out what these feelings could mean. In short, there are no ‘right' or ‘wrong' reasons - there merely has to be a willingness to take a closer look at those concerns that we cannot easily make sense of by ourselves.

Counseling and Psychotherapy's aim is to clarify aspects of a person's life that cause distress, confusion or lead us to feel blocked, stuck or unfulfilled. It is through such clarification that you are able to make choices about those things that you may wish to change or understand more fully, and also to come to terms with those things that you can't.

I offer a half hour initial appointment free of charge, for us to meet and decide if we wish to work together.
When we first meet I will be aiming to answer two questions:
Why is this person coming to counseling/ psychotherapy?
Am I an appropriate person to help them achieve what they want?

You will have your own questions to answer, which may include:
Does she seem trustworthy/ competent/ caring/ understanding?
Do I feel comfortable in her company, and willing to talk about my concerns?

If we both agree, we can run the first hourly session on from the end of the free 30 minutes. This will allow you longer to describe your current situation, and for us to discuss the way we will proceed.  
 
If you do decide to work with me, a contract to work together will be offered with regular sessions of an hour which usually takes place on a weekly basis.  The total number of sessions will depend on your individual requirements

Daytime and evening appointments are available. We offer longer term counseling as well as brief counseling.
